With a commitment to increasing the profile of rugby league in Asia, Hong Kong have taken giant strides forward by implementing the first ever Hong Kong Rugby League board.

Keen to make their own impact in Asian rugby league and follow the lead of Thailand, the Philippines and Japan, Hong Kong’s new structure is the first step of many in their eyes.

With James Hall as Chairman, Ray Heli as Secretary, Ian Molyneux as Treasurer and Brad Newman, Jason Fairleigh, Jack Muir, Malcolm Pratt and Daniel Mascord as board members, their board is all sorted.

Keen to add a host of international fixtures to their calendar now that the board has been set up, the new board are also keen to get local, domestic and junior school competitions up and running.

“We are very excited as a group about giving Rugby League a presence here in Hong Kong. We have put together a board of talented and most importantly enthusiastic people who can push the sport forward in Hong Kong.” said inaugural HKRL Chairman James Hall.

“Our hopes for the future are high with regards to getting both adults and juniors playing Rugby League in and for this exciting country. Looking further down the road we can see Hong Kong, with it’s geographical positioning, being a venue of great interest to the global Rugby League community.”

“If you have any interest in playing, supporting or volunteering then please get in touch as we have some exciting plans in place for 2015.”

Further developments for rugby league in Hong Kong will be known and made in the coming weeks.
