Former Titans coach becomes new Cowboys assistant

John Cartwright

In somewhat of a surprising move, former Gold Coast Titans head coach John Cartwright will head North and take up an assistant coaching role with the North Queensland Cowboys for one year..

Cartwright, the Titans foundation head coach, was replaced midway through the 2014 season and took time away from the game.

With this new role, the 200-game coaching veteran and former rugby league player remains involved in the game.

Cartwright has also coached the City Origin side in 2008 and held assistant coaching roles with both the Australian Kangaroos and the NSW Blues throughout his coaching career.

With Paul Green still a new coach in terms of longevity, getting Cartwright on the coaching staff gives the Cowboys some experience, something General Manager of Football Peter Parr looks forward to.

“There’s no doubt John brings an outstanding coaching resume to the Cowboys,” Parr said.

“His arrival is a huge boost for our club and gives us an outstanding coaching staff to take into the coming season.”
