Roosters Kiwi prop signs new deal with the club

Not that long ago, he was linked with a move away from the club. Fast forward to the present day and those doubts can be cast asunder, with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves re-signing with the Sydney Roosters.

The new deal will see the Kiwi prop stay at the club until the end of 2017, a move that has him pleased, excited and relieved.

“I’m fortunate I get to live my dream every day. I couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else – I love the Roosters and am so proud to represent the Club,” said Waerea-Hargreaves.

“There’s a strong culture at the Roosters and we’re a tight bunch. We have a fantastic team on and off the field and I’m so happy that I’ll continue to be a part of it.”

Someone who is involved in all the processes but monitors from behind the scenes is Roosters Chief Operating Officer, Brian Canavan. He knows how important it is to retain big-name players and he knows that Hargreaves is one of them.

“From the outset, Jared indicated he wanted to remain with the Roosters and we are pleased to have retained his services despite interest from other Clubs,” said Canavan.

“A popular Clubman and a favourite among our Members, Corporate Partners and supporters, Jared is a terrific ambassador for both the Roosters and the NRL, and to ensure that he will continue to represent our Club for a further two years is a wonderful coup.”

Just as pleased is club coach Trent Robinson, who has worked alongside Hargreaves for a number of years now.

“Highly respected by the coaching staff and his teammates, Jared is an integral member of our leadership group and someone not only I but everyone at the Roosters values for his contributions both on and off the field, and it’s great to know that he’ll continue to play his role at the Club for a further two years,” said Robinson.
