A surprise inclusion when he was included in the St George Illawarra Dragons side, Peter Mata’utia surprised many by performing consistently and holding down his spot and it has led to being re-signed by the club.
The new deal for Mata’utia will see the Samoan international remain at the Dragons until the end of 2017, so for another two seasons.
Recently named in the NSW Cup 2015 Representative Team, Mata’utia has been named across numerous positions across the Dragons back-line this year but has cemented a centre position as his own.
The man himself was happy and pleased that his future and that of his family, was now sorted.
“I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to continue representing the Dragons and it is now up to me to repay the faith by continuing to train hard,†said Mata’utia.
“My family have settled within the area which was an important part of the choice as well as continuing to learn under Head Coach Paul McGregor.â€
Equally pleased is the Dragons Director of Recruitment and Retention Peter Mulholland.
“Peter is a very versatile young player who can cover a number of key areas which is invaluable in the modern game,†said Mulholland.
“He is a hard trainer who is well-liked throughout the playing squad and we look forward to seeing him continue his development here at the Club.â€
