In and out of the side due to inconsistencies, there is no more doubt about the future of Gold Coast Titans back-rower Dave Taylor. He has signed a 2-year deal with Super League side, the Catalan Dragons.
His form eventually became untenable and the Titans opted to let him go, as Catalans pounced to sign the hulking forward.
A new challenge means fresh motivation for Taylor and he admits that he has always wanted to play in the Super League.
“I have always wanted to play in the Super League at some stage and the opportunity has come from Catalans and I’m excited to add a new chapter to my career,†Taylor said.
“The more open style of Super League is my style of football and I’m excited to get the chance to enjoy that and hopefully help bring some success for the Catalans Dragons.â€
Taylor is also looking forward to living and playing in Perpignan, the Dragons home base, and is excited to bring his family over.
“My wife Ash and our 2 young daughters are extremely excited about the opportunity to live in such a wonderful city like Perpignan,” said Taylor.
“It will also be amazing for us to be able to enjoy the culture of such an amazing country like France together as a familyâ€
“I can’t wait to run out on the pitch next season in front of the supporters and do my best to hopefully win some silverware for the Catalans Dragons.â€
Taylor played for both the Brisbane Broncos and South Sydney Rabbitohs before his Titans stint and has also played for Queensland on six occasions.
The signing of Taylor continues the impressive recruitment drive for Catalans, as coach Laurent Frayssinous heralds the capture of the crafty back-rower.
“The signing of Dave Taylor is fantastic news for the club and the competition. We are delighted to be able to attract a such quality player to the Super League,” said Frayssinous.
“He will help us to make one step forward thanks to his experience at the very top level. His speed, agility and capacity to offload combined with his size will make him a good weapon for us.â€
