Sharks centre crosses the Tasman and signs with the Warriors

Blake Ayshford

Perhaps in a move that many did not see coming, Cronulla Sharks centre Blake Ayshford has opted to make the move South and cross the Tasman, signing with the New Zealand Warriors.

The 27-year old has signed a 2-year deal with the Warriors and to date, has played in 107 NRL games with both the Wests Tigers and the Cronulla Sharks.

Currently in the process of realigning their squad, Warriors coach Andrew McFadden said they see Ayshford as a solid, experienced player that can assist the side moving forward.

“We’re undergoing a thorough process of reshaping our NRL squad for next year and beyond,” he said.

“While we’re always seeking to create depth and competition, we have also identified the need for more experienced and durable players with the level of professionalism we’re after.

“Blake will bring those qualities to the club. He has been on the NRL scene for several seasons now and has demonstrated just what we need from our signings.”

Predominantly a centre, Ayshford has also played on the wing and in the back-row throughout his career.
