It may not be a total surprise to many given the intense rumours that played out surrounding his future, but Michael Gordon will depart the Parramatta Eels at season’s end.
With the need to free up cap space if they are to remain active on the open market and the likelihood of several different scenarios playing out, Gordon will depart the blue and gold and head East towards Bondi.
Taking up a 1-year deal with the Sydney Roosters to take some of the pressure off boom rookie, Latrell Mitchell.
Gordon has so far played 14 games to date for the Eels and with close to 200 games to his name, the experience and mentoring values he has convinced the Roosters to sign him.
“With almost 200 NRL matches under his belt, Michael will add experience and depth to our squad,†said Roosters CEO, John Lee.
“Michael will also be a terrific mentor as we continue to develop our younger backs, and we’re pleased to have secured his services,†he added.
