Brad Arthur

On the field, they are determined, gritty and playing for one another on a weekly basis. Off the field, 2016 has been a shambles for the Eels with domestic violence allegations, salary cap issues, fines, injuries and other factors.

Throughout it all, Brad Arthur has been vocal in what he wants to achieve at the club moving forward and in a boost for the club, he has re-signed for a further two seasons.

Knowing full well his worth as the head coach of the club, the Eels acted swiftly and secured him for two more seasons. Arthur is already under contract for 2017.

Eels Chairman Max Donnelly has made it a priority to retain Arthur and in his view, keeping him was the best decision to make.

“When you have a someone of Brad’s quality in your Club, it makes perfect sense to secure that person for the long term,” Mr Donnelly said.

“A key factor in our decision is Brad’s drive and commitment to the improvement of our Club on and off the field. He is always looking at taking our team to the next level and it was essential that he be part of our Club’s plans going forward.

Not one to shy away from a challenge, Arthur has galvanised the playing roster and has them performing at a consistent level each week.

For the man himself, it is the direction the club is headed in and the confidence from the fresh start that has him excited.

“I have been proud of the way our team has managed to front up week in, week out and that comes down the accountability we have shown to each other, the Club and our fans,” said Arthur.

“It has been a challenging year but it’s time to focus on the great opportunity we now have to take our Club in a positive direction.”

With the head coach locked in for several more seasons, the club can turn their attentions to a CEO and a General Manager of Football.

“Brad is dedicated to taking our football performance to the next level and it’s important to have him committed to our Club for a sustained period to ensure we have all the resources necessary to bring success to our members and fans,” said Acting CEO, Bevan Paul.

“We can now move forward in partnership together ensuring that our Club’s future is at the forefront of every decision we make.
