George Jennings

One of the younger Jennings brothers will join brother Michael at the club, with George Jennings signing a deal for the 2017 season with the Parramatta Eels.

Regarded as a talented outside back, George has played 5 total first-grade games for Penrith.

His signing with the Eels will provide further competition for spots, something that Brad Arthur is pleased to see.

“When given the opportunity George has shown plenty of ability at NRL level so we expect him to push hard for selection in 2017,” Arthur said.

“George will bring speed and strength to our backline next year and we look forward to him joining the squad for preseason training.”

Jennings is the third confirmed signing by the Eels in recent weeks.

In an earlier article from 2015, Jennings spoke of his last name and the pressure that comes from being in the shadow of older brother Michael.

“It’s always hard having that last name,” Jennings admits.

“But (Michael) has always made us feel like we can only be the best that we can be, not to be like him. As long as we give our best that’s all that matters.

“When I was young my brother was playing first grade and there was always a lot of pressure because everybody knew I was his younger brother and it was hard to fulfil the expectations that people had but it kind of wore off after a while.

“It’s a lot of pressure but I can only be the best George that I can be.”
