Mitch Barnett

Since joining the Newcastle Knights at the back end of last season, Mitch Barnett has been on fire and in form and as a result – the form which has continued so far into this season – has seen him rewarded with a new 3-year deal.

The new deal will see Barnett remain with the club until the end of the 2020 season as the Wingham junior looks to maintain his form and build his game further with the club.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to develop my game further and I’m very excited to be staying in Newcastle for another three years,” Barnett said.

“The Club has shown great faith in me and I want to repay them with hard work.”

Barnett knows performance is a week-to-week proposition and he just wants to help the club rebuild.”

“I’ve just got to keep working week-to-week and improving my game and hopefully go through this rebuilding phase of the Club to get it back to where it was,” added Barnett.

The signing is one that the club and coach Nathan Brown are pleased to have made, knowing full well the impact Barnett has on the side.

“We’re pleased to have Mitch sign on for another three years with the Club,” Brown said.

“Mitch epitomises the well known saying at this Club and that is being a player other players want to play with.”
