Jacob Liddle

Catching the eye of fans from rival clubs, many had Jacob Liddle earmarked as a player that their club should be chasing given his talents on the footy field. That is now nothing more than a pipe-dream, however, as the dynamic hooker re-signs with the Wests Tigers for a further season.

Already contracted to the club for 2018, Liddle agreed to a 1-year extension in a new deal that keeps him at the Tigers until the end of 2019.

A former Australian Schoolboy, Liddle was a clear standout in both the Wests Tigers Holden Cup team and the Intrust Super Premiership side, prompting a prolonged stay in first-grade at present.

Liddle is pleased to have been given the opportunity that he has and was grateful to the Tigers club for giving him that chance.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity that Wests Tigers has given me, the club has given me the chance to develop my game both on and off the field,” said Liddle.

“Wests Tigers are a great club and the future is bright here; we’ve got a lot of players coming in and a lot who have helped me develop as I’ve come through the grades.

“It’s a nice feeling to have the security, it takes the pressure off and allows me to focus on my game as a player and to continue to develop.”

Well liked by the fans and obviously well-rated by the club, coach Ivan Cleary looks forward to Liddle being a part of the club setup for the next couple of seasons.

“Jacob is a talented kid who puts the team before himself,” said Cleary.

“We look forward to Jacob being an influential player in the long-term future of Wests Tigers.”
