Needing hooker depth following numerous circumstances, the Parramatta Eels have signed Matt McIlwrick for the 2019 season.
With Kaysa Pritchard granted indefinite leave and a recent injury to Will Smith, the need for depth behind Reed Mahoney was crucial.
Having been released by the South Sydney Rabbbitohs, McIlwrick did not play first-grade for the club.
Previously, he had played first-grade for the Canberra Raiders, Cronulla Sharks, Sydney Roosters and Wests Tigers.
Now at a new club in the Eels, McIlwrick jumped at the opportunity.
“It was a good opportunity,” McIlwrick said.
“I’ve heard good things about the club and I look forward to meeting the boys.”
