Departing Parramatta Eels utility back Bevan French

Falling drastically down the pecking order, Bevan French has been granted an immediate release by the Parramatta Eels to join Super League side, the Wigan Warriors.

Pending the finalisation of his paperwork, French will join Wigan as they look to reshape their roster.

A noted speedster, French is able to cover numerous positions across the back-line from fullback to wing to the halves.

Since joining the club several years ago, the local Tingha product played in 47 NRL games and scored 35 tries.

Wigan coach Adrian Lam did not mince words; he likes Bevan French, has kept an eye on him for a while and knows how good he can be.

“Bevan is an entertainer, a natural footballer who I have admired for some time,” Lam said.

“He will get people up from their seat and add even more attacking threat and flair to our game.

“We’re putting together a strong Wigan squad for 2020 with the announcements of our recent signings together with re-signing of some of our brightest young players.

“The squad is in great health.”

With the new opportunity on the horizon, French looks forward to getting stuck into things for his new club.

“I feel honoured and very excited to have been afforded the opportunity to play for such a great club as Wigan,” French said.

“I am very much looking forward to the challenge and moving forward I am confident that I can contribute to the future success of Wigan in Super League in the next couple of seasons.”
