A life member and now set for his 15th season with the club, Chris Lawrence’s new one-year deal sets a Wests Tigers record.
He is now the longest consecutive serving player in the club’s history.
It was a long way back in 2006 when the fresh-faced Lawrence made his debut in the centres.
Just one of four players to reach 200+ games for the club, the man himself is grateful to don the jersey for such a long period of time.
“I’m extremely thankful and proud to re-sign with Wests Tigers for another year,” Lawrence said. “
This club has always been where I have called home and I’m really excited to be able to continue playing in the colours that I love.”
Lawrence was quick to thank the fans and is excited for the club under coach Michael Maguire.
“The Members and fans of Wests Tigers have always shown tremendous support to me throughout my career and I’m very grateful for that.
“Under Michael Maguire, Wests Tigers is definitely going in the right direction so I’m looking forward to being a part of that and help bring the success this club deserves.”
The praise came thick and fast for Lawrence from Maguire, who knows how crucial the veteran is to the side moving forward.
“I’m really pleased we’ve been able to re-sign Chris,” Maguire said.
“He has been a wonderful player for this club for a long time but continues to grow in his game and role on the field — which is most pleasing to see.
“Chris is a really key part of what we’re building here as one of the senior players in the side, and I have no doubt that he will continue to show that on and off the field in the year ahead.”
