NRL Trials 2008
NRL Pre-season Trials are underway for 2008. NRL News will continue to bring you the latest news, updates and results from the NRL trials so be sure to check back regularly to see how your team is doing. Click here to visit the main page for all results.
The first week of trials has been completed for this year, with the Storm beating Manly, Canberra defeating the Titans, the Broncos proving too good for the Cowboys, Newcastle winning in New Zealand and the Panthers looking strong in their local match.

- RickyRicardo : The Cowboys didn't take the kick, but what concerned the NRL was the fact that it pretty much happened according to script. That's why several players, player managers and other staff have been linked to the incident.
- RickyRicardo : Ryan Tandy, who is linked with the scandal knocked the ball on off the kick-off to give the Cowboys the ball. They got a repeat set, and around the 2 minute mark, Ryan Tandy conceded a penalty right in front of the posts.
- RickyRicardo : There was a whole ton of betting on the first points of the Dogs/Cowboys game being from a penalty goal. 95% of all bets taken for that game were relating to that incident.

- RickyRicardo : Same here NRRJ, but I played district. I was playing soccer at the same time however, and did my knee, thus meaning I couldn't do either anymore. Was a real shame, as I liked both, and I had a chance to go state in league, had the injury not happened.

- KING WALLY : burgess was a weapon in the tri nations last year, and played in the super league, he was always going to be succesfull in nrl.
- RickyRicardo : I certainly did. Had my doubts about whether he could cope with the physical and mental toughness in the NRL, and he did with ease.
- NRRJ : I remember early in the year, u werent sure if burgess was going to live up to all the hype and be as good in nrl.. and now his your player of the year. Burgess has really impressed alot of people this year

- RickyRicardo : Dugan is the future of the NRL, and at such a young age already, he has a good grasp of the way game should be played. He has the skills to turn into a ball-player in the future, but he also has the skills to become one of the top, if not the best fullback in the game in a few years. I think he's an all-round better player than Boyd, and Dugan has shown his array of skills over the course of the year, and that's why he got the nod ahead of Boyd.
