Its impossible to work the Broncos of 2010 out. After seemingly being rudderless only a few weeks ago and under siege with Folau set to walk, and questions being asked about Ivan Henjack – they’ve bounced back with two wins. Last night accounting for the table topping Titans to the tune of 28-6 at Suncorp Stadium.
Ok, so Israel Folau has been in vintage form in the past two weeks. Bagging two doubles in terms of touchdowns and proving a menace for the defence. When Israel is ‘on’ it general helps those around him lift, but with Peter Wallace back calling the shots and young guns Gillett and Yow Yeh also chiming in – things don’t look so bad.
Mind you, the crowds that the Broncos are pulling at the moment help too. With 40,000 plus screaming for them at Suncorp, it sure helps.
But what would impress coach Ivan Henjack and Brisbane supporters the most would be their defence. They only let a single try in during this game, against a usually impressive Titans attacking side. And the try that was scored was totally against the run of play.
For the Gold Coast, John Cartwrights worst fears were confirmed. He knew his team has been playing poorly in recent weeks but they have still managed to scrape home in most of their games. However, last night – their dropped ball and poor passing choices really brought them undone. The Broncos made them pay on most occasions and this frustrated the life out of the Titans side.
Both sides have the bye next weekend and the extra points for the Broncos will see them start their movement up the ladder.
