steve-turner-nsw-blues-origin-debut-2008.jpgMelbourne speedster Steve Turner has been called into the New South Wales squad to replace suspended winger Jarryd Hayne ahead of the Blues clash with Queensland next week.

Turner will join his new teammates on Thursday as he prepares for his possible State of origin debut at Suncorp Stadium.

Hayne was tonight rubbed out of Origin II after failing to have his grade-two dangerous throw charge reduced at the NRL judiciary.

NSW coach Craig Bellamy has not yet decided if Turner will start be named in his final team to face the Maroons, with Canberra’s Joel Monaghan still on stand-by for centre Mark Gasnier who is yet to undertake a final fitness test on his injured hamstring.
