MARK Gasnier – the man who carved up the Maroons in State of Origin I and was given no hope of playing in Game II – will today declare himself ready to haunt Queensland once again. Despite the early concerns of the Blues’ coaching and medical staff, Gasnier is set for a miracle recovery from a hamstring injury and will take the field at Suncorp Stadium for Wednesday night’s return blockbuster.
After fears he would be out of the game for up to three weeks, Gasnier’s availablity for Origin II will be an enormous boost to a NSW side still reeling from the suspension of Jarryd Hayne.
Earlier in the week, Gasnier declared he would not take the field if he was anything but 100 per cent fit. “Origin is not a game where you can go in 80 per cent, even 90 per cent,” he said.
