Parramatta Eels playmaker Feleti Mateo has laughed off reports from Sydney newspapers today suggesting he is poised to walkaway from the Eels following the 2010 NRL season.
The Eels junior and key component of the Parramatta side said that he is more than happy at the club and while salary cap pressures are ever present, the collection of talent and comradeship at the Eels has him and the side ready to make another serious assault on the NRL Premiership.
Still only 25, Mateo was struck down with injury in 2009 and is steeling himself for a full-season in 2010 – saddled up next to the likes of new recruits Timana Tahu, Justin Poore and Shane Shackleton.
With such an array of talent the Eels have been installed as early NRL Premiership favourites for 2010.
A Parramatta local, spending his time in the junior grades and supported by a family of Parramatta diehards – Mateo said he has already spoken with Paul Osborne; CEO of the Eels and both parties are keen to extend beyond 2010.
It was the same message from the Eels officials, they are more than happy with Mateo and will do everything they can to ensure the five-eighth come lock forward is still at the club in years to come.
