With both sides unable to make the top 8 with the Knights not having enough points, and the Storm stuck to the bottom of the ladder following their cap scandal, there was little on the line for both sides.
The match did however have some significance with several Storm players such as Greg Inglis, Ryan Hoffman, Brett White, Jeff Lima, Aiden Tolman and Brett Finch who watched the game from the sidelines, all leaving the club.

The Knights fought bravely to get back into the game with Zeb Taia giving them some hope in the 53rd minute, before the Storm ran away with the game to end the Knights hopes of winning.
Outgoing Storm prop Brett White avoided the dreaded nudie run after he scored a try in the 70th minute, and outgoing centre Greg Inglis showed off his skills with a great run through some flimsy Knights defence to get on the scoreboard.
