All this time, everything indicated that Adam Cuthbertson had signed with the Panthers. It was a given. He was even named in the Panthers squad for 2011. It was all in vain however, or a carefully thought-out plan that resulted in his move to the Dragons.

So thus, today, the St George-Illawarra Dragons agreed to terms with the former Manly and Shark forward, with Cuthbertson signing a 12 month contract.

Cuthbertson who made his debut for Manly in 2006, has played 65 NRL games and is looking for a fresh start at a Dragons team coming off their 2010 premiership glory.

Cuthbertson who was at Manly in 2008 when they won the premiership has had an indifferent two seasons in 2009 and 2010, so the move to the Dragons could be a blessing in disguise under supercoach Wayne Bennett.

“This is a fresh start for me here at the Dragons,” he said. “Last year was extremely frustrating but I’ll be looking to take every opportunity I can and grabbing it with both hands.

“To come to a Club rich in history and work under a Coach like Wayne Bennett is exciting,” he added.

Wayne Bennett is delighted to have Cuthbertson on board at the Dragons.

“We’ve been fortunate enough to get Adam to the Dragons,” Bennett said. “He is a quality player and we are very appreciative that he wants to join the Club.

“We are looking forward to him commencing pre-season training and taking the opportunities he is given in the Red V,” he added.
