In his first post for NRL News, we welcome Roosters tragic John, known as NRRJ on the shoutbox, who posts his thoughts on the Roosters standout players, and the team he’d like to see come season 2011.

Wow what a season for the Sydney Roosters!

Wooden spooners to grand finalists! What a major feat for the club!

The 2011 season is fast approaching and so far it’s looking really bright for the Chooks. A lot of talented juniors coming along such as Kane Linnett, Mose Moseo, Joseph BJ Leilua, who all made there debut last season, and all of which will be eager to hold down their first-grade spots.

The Roosters defense was a real worry for them last season even though they made it to the grand final.

Scorelines like 60-14 against the Bulldogs, 32-14 against Cowboys and of course the grand final against dragons 32-8 are losses the club will want to avoid in 2011.

In 2011, the main thing the Roosters have to get right for their attack is through their halves, Carney, Pearce and Friend. With all of them combining well, they’re one of the most dangerous trios in the NRL, and one of the youngest.

With Carney, Pearce and Friend running the show, many people seem to forget about Anthony Minichiello at fullback, Braith Anasta at Lock, and another young talented second rower Tom Symonds, all of whom have great ability to find the line and find it for other team mates.

Roosters fans should be pumped for the season as it finally seems like they are getting back to their form in 2000-2004.

Prediction – 5th position.

Likely team for round 1 (with injuries including)–

  1. Anthony Minichiello
  2. Justin Carney
  3. Kane Linnett
  4. Shaun Kenny-Dowall
  5. Sam Perrett

  7. Mitchell Pearce
  8. Jason Ryles
  9. Jake Friend
  10. Frank Paul-Nuuausala

  12. Anthony Cherrington
  13. Braith Anasta

14. Tom Symonds 15. Martin Kennedy 16. Jarad-Warea Hargreaves 17. Daniel Conn

18. Joseph Leilua
