Josh Dugan

It would be the last thing the Raiders need heading into a big clash this weekend, but it news that they will have to live with – after both Josh Dugan and Blake Ferguson were found to be in breach of alcohol protocols at the Raiders, and both have subsequently been banned for this weeks clash with the Rabbitohs.

Following their breach, both Dugan and Ferguson will face the Raiders alcohol committee meeting, as well as the Club Player Representatives.

The decision made by the club to stand both players down, shows how serious the club was when they set their initial alcohol protocols at the start of the season – something that Coach David Furner stands by.

“It’s an important part of the season for us and we need to make sure everyone in the playing group is 100 per cent committed to the team,” Furner said. “We needed to make a stand in regards to our discipline and this shows we’re serious about the standards we set for ourselves as a club.

“Blake and Josh know they’ve done the wrong thing and have accepted the consequences.”

With their omission, Furner says that it gives other a players the chance to make an impact, such as young debutant, Edrick Lee.

“We have Edrick Lee coming into the team on the wing this weekend who has been outstanding at NYC level and we’re really excited about giving him an opportunity,” Furner said. “Reece Robinson will move to fullback where he has already proven himself this season.”
