NRL is a funny game, and just when you think a team is dead and buried, they have a resurgence – and that is exactly what the Titans are having, as they recorded their third successive win, with a 28-16 win over the North Queensland Cowboys.

It was the Titans early defence that set the platform for the rest of the game, as they defended for 50 straight tackles, resulting in 4 line dropouts, yet held firm.

Despite their win however, it was perhaps marred somewhat by captain and veteran prop Luke Bailey, being taken to hospital – with what was believed to be a popped rib.

The Cowboys also had an injury concern of their own, with hooker James Segeyaro, who earned his first game in the starting line-up this year – suffering high grade ankle syndesmosis.

For Titans coach John Cartwright, he pointed out that only a month ago, people were writing off his team.

“People were quick to say our season was over,” said Cartwright.

“But the playing group didn’t believe that and they’ve stayed tough through some dark times.”

Cowboys coach Neil Henry had no excuses, as he knows his side was outplayed.

“Anyone who watched that game could see we were comprehensively outplayed,” he said,

“We were out-defended by a better side on the night, they haven’t got any excuses.”
