The Knights have suffered a rather bad run of form of late, and that continued – as they lost 32-16 to fellow strugglers, the Canberra Raiders, at Hunter Stadium.

With the Knights now only two points behind last place, and on a five-game losing streak, they were booed by their own fans as they left the field – as coach Wayne Bennett finds himself under pressure, and looking for answers.

With Canberra having been on a shocking run of their own heading into the clash, having lost five of their last six, including a 40-0 drubbing at the hands of the Tigers last week – coach David Furner said that it was not relief that he felt, but pride, given his side’s victory.

“I believe in what the players can achieve,” Furner said.

“… As a coach, it’s more just being proud of how they responded.”

The win moves the Raiders to 14 competition points, just 2 outside the top eight, with the club having the bye next weekend.

For the Knights, coach Wayne Bennett is at a loss to describe how his side can be improving one minute, only to bottom out and crumble the next.

“I don’t know whether we’re going backwards or forwards right now,” he said.

“We’re not going anywhere to be honest with you.

“There’s not much to take out of (these losses) except what we all know.

The only downside for the Raiders, was winger Dimitri Pelo placed on report for making contact with his forearm.
