Danny Buderus

They say age shall not weary them, and that is the exact sentiment for Knights hooker Danny Buderus – with the former representative player and Newcastle captain re-signing with the club, for one more season.

Buderus has played 11 games in season 2012 to date, and is now the second-most capped player at the Knights, after passing Tony Butterfield.

With the Knights season disappointing so far, Buderus believes that he still has more to offer to both his team, as well as to the city of Newcastle.

“It means so much to me every time I run out in the Knights jersey and I just want to do everything I can to help the Club,” Buderus said.

“I didn’t come back here expecting the fairy tale nor to just contribute, I want to have a positive influence on the place.

“Age isn’t an issue for me and if I didn’t feel like I could contribute I would give it away.

“I am pleased to have re-signed for another year and look forward to helping the team be successful on and off the field.”

Matt Gidley, Knights CEO, also believes that there is still a lot more for Gidley to offer the football club.

“We are very excited that Danny has decided to commit to a further 12 months at our Club,” Gidley said.

“Danny’s attitude, commitment and desire have been the cornerstone of his game for his entire career and continues to be the case.

“Danny’s leadership skills will also be extremely valuable as we look to integrate our next generation of Newcastle Knights.”
