Steve Michaels

The Titans have re-signed two promising players for the future, with local juniors Steve Michaels and Jordan Rankin re-signing with the club, until 2015 and 2014 respectively.

Michaels, who is a Mudgeeraba Redbacks junior signed a new 3-year deal, whereas Rankin, a Burleigh Bears and Titans U20’s graduate, has signed a new 2-year deal with the club.

Re-signing the pair ensures that the majority of the Titans side from the 2012 NRL season, will be around for at least next season, 2013.

The re-signing of Rankin will see a total of 7 players from the club’s junior ranks playing for them, with Titans coach John Cartwright pleased that the two local juniors are staying on board.

“It’s good news for the club to be able to keep two young Gold Coasters who still have a lot of football in front of them,’’ said Cartwright.

“Stevie has been great for us since arriving from the Broncos and is one of those players that gives his all every time he steps out onto the football field.

“With Jordon, it is easy to forget that he is still only 20-years of age and it’s great that he can continue his development here on the Gold Coast with the club that he has been with for the past five years since he was 16.’’

Steve Michaels himself is also excited to get the chance to continue his career on the Gold Coast.

“I’m really happy here with the Titans, I’ve got family here and I grew up here so it’s great to re-sign with the club’’ said Michaels.

“I’m enjoying things here on and off the field and we’ve got a really tight knit playing group that I love playing with.’’

Jordan Rankin is also pleased at the re-signing, and looks forward to his next 2 years at the club.

“I’ve enjoyed the opportunities that I’ve been given to play NRL football over the last two years and I’m excited to continue my development as a player and a person at the Titans,’’ said Rankin.

“Being born and bred on the Gold Coast, it makes it that much more special that I can stay here and hopefully I can play more first grade over the next two years.’’
