Vincent Duport

After a turbulent 2011 season due to injury, French centre Vincent Duport has been rewarded for his stellar year in 2012, re-signing with the Catalan Dragons for a further 4 years.

The 24-year old Frenchman has been one of the standout performers for the Perpignan based club in 2012, scoring 19 tries across 32 league and cup appearances.

Laurent Frayssinous, the new head coach of the Dragons, said that it was imperative for the club to retain the experienced Frenchman.

“It was important for the club to keep Vincent,” said new Catalan head coach Laurent Frayssinous.

“He will become one of the key players in the team in the years to come. He is a valuable player in the squad, both on and off the field.

“He worked really hard after his injury to come back at his best and this new contract is a fair reward.”

Duport, who played for Toulouse in 2010, is thrilled to have his future settled, and is pleased that the club has confidence in him.

“I’m really happy to see the club has full confidence in me for the future.

“I performed really well in 2012 but I don’t want to stop here. I want more for the years to come.”
