He comes here for a new challenge, and it further strengthens the depth for the North Queensland Cowboys – with former Super League hooker Scott Moore signing a 2-year deal with the Townsville-based club.

Moore, 24, will become only the second British player to play for the Cowboys – with the first being Welshman Jonathan Davies back in 1995, the Cowboys inaugural season.

Moore comes to the NRL and the Cowboys with 138 games of experience in the Super League, having played for Castleford, St Helens, Huddersfield and Widnes in the past.

Moore was also the youngest ever Super League player, debuting for St Helens at just 16, with the hooker named in the 2009 ESL Team of the Year.

Having played two tests for England in 2009, he played in a total of 17 games this season in the Super League season – as the Cowboys look forward to Moore joining the club, who have identified him as a talented player.

“Our coaching staff has identified Scott as a player who is very capable of doing well in the NRL,” Cowboys General Manager – Football Peter Parr said.

“He sees joining the Cowboys as the chance to take his game to even higher levels and we’ll do everything we can to ensure that happens.

“We’re sure he’s going to fit in well here and challenge for a place in our 17 for round one.”
