He was a popular player among the fans during his time at the club, and the fans can now rejoice once more – with former utility Mat Rogers rejoining the club as their new Backs coach.

Rogers, 36, who retired from the NRL back in 2010, will work with the Titans young halves, as they seek a replacement already at their club for the departed Scott Prince.

Beau Henry, Jordan Rankin, Aidan Sezer and Albert Kelly will all be privy to working with Rogers, as the young halves look to stake their claims for the vacant halfback role.

For Titans CEO David May, the return of Rogers to the club in an off-field capacity, is exciting.

“Mat was an integral part of this club during those important first few years so to have such a professional person returning to the club in a new capacity is fantastic news,” said May.

“Given how much influence Mat had as a player in both codes, I’m sure he will be a welcomed contributor to our coaching staff.”

gers to the club in an off-field role, will only further help the young halves at the club, according to Titans coach John Cartwright.

“As a player, Mat had a great skill set and an energy that had a positive impact on his teammates so it’s great that he will be back on board helping some of our younger players in a coaching capacity,” said Cartwright.

“He knows what is required to perform at the top level, is familiar with how the club operates and already has a great relationship with many of the players and the coaching staff so it’ll be great to have him involved with the playing group once again.”

Playing 77 games for the Titans over a 4-year period, Rogers is looking forward to being involved with the club once more.

“Being involved with the Titans from the start, this club will always hold a special place in my heart,” said Rogers.

“So to be returning in a new coaching role in what is an exciting new phase for the club makes it even more special.

“I’m looking forward to working with some of the younger guys and am really excited by the next challenge in my career.”
