Brad Takairangi

A semi-cleanout of sorts has begun at the Roosters, as speculation continues to mount as to whether or not former Cowboy Luke O’Donnell, currently playing at the Huddersfield Giants in the English Super League, will be joining the club.

With such rumours abound, the Sydney Roosters have announced that back-rower/lock Brad Takairangi has been released by the club, and will join the Titans effective immediately on a 3-year deal.

Takairangi has played in 29 NRL games to date and is a Cook Islands representative, having played for the Island nation back in 2009.

Roosters COO Brian Canavan said that whilst the club regards Takairangi as a big talent, the club simply could not compete with the Titans when it came to funds.

“Brad possesses some great talent however with the Titans offering him a longer-term contract, we didn’t want to stand in his way,” said Canavan.

“We thank Brad for his contribution to our club and wish him and his young family all the very best for the future.”
