Luke O'Donnell

The whole process was smoother and quicker than many had perhaps expected, but it is now official, as former Cowboy Luke O’Donnell signs with the Sydney Roosters on 1-year deal, following his release from Super League side, the Huddersfield Giants.

Trent Robinson, the Roosters head coach is pleased with the signing, given the experience and influence he has from his years in footy, to become a vital asset for the club moving forward in 2013.

“Luke has plenty of experience, will fit into our system here well and we’re looking forward to him starting,” said Robinson.

“Together with our other senior players in the forwards like Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Martin Kennedy and Frank-Paul Nuuausala, he’s sure to not only help on the field but it will be great to have him mentor the younger forwards we have coming through the ranks.”

No doubt he is still getting used to re-acclimatising himself in Sydney once more – but O’Donnell is excited to get the chance to train and play alongside his new team-mates.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing in the NRL again, and can’t wait to meet my new teammates and getting stuck into training,” said O’Donnell.
