Whilst losing a sponsor in the world of any sport is disappointing, it is to be expected – and for the Parramatta Eels, they today fall into that boat, with the announcement that long-time sponsor Pirtek will not be the club’s official sponsor beyond the 2013 season.

The announcement was made today by Eels CEO Ken Edwards, thus ending the 9-year association between the Eels and Pirtek, with the deal to conclude at the end of the current 2013 season.

“Whilst it is unfortunate that we couldn’t come to terms to extend our current deal with Pirtek, I think it is important to celebrate what has been a wonderful association between the 2 parties. All our discussions leading up to making this decision were conducted professionally which is a credit to what both Pirtek and the Parramatta Eels stand for,” said Ken Edwards, Parramatta CEO.

Pirtek will not cease all involvement with the Eels, however, as they will remain a corporate partner of the club for the long haul, as Pirtek sends their well wishes to the club in light of the Eels and the organisation parting ways.

“Pirtek have enjoyed a fantastic association over the last 9 years through both the highs and lows, but our support for the Club has never waivered. We wish them every success for the future in implementing their strategic plan over the next 5 years. We are looking forward to a great 2013 season, on and off the field,” said Glenn Duncan, Pirtek CEO.
