Tom Lineham

He might only be 21, but he is already an integral part of the Hull FC side – with winger Tom Lineham rewarded for his good form including a recent hat-trick in demolition of Castleford, agreeing to a 4-year contract extension until the end of 2017.

Lineham, who is also familiar with soccer and rugby union as a player, only joined Hull FC during the middle of last season from the York City Knights, with the 21-year old excited to have his long-term future settled at the club.

“I’m very pleased to be offered a new contract and I can just focus on improving as much as possible now,” said Lineham.

“I’ve enjoyed my time here so far, it’s gone really quickly but Hull are an ambitious club with a very ambitious owner and good management and staff.

“The fans are very passionate too so it’s the place I wanted to stay and a club I wanted to commit my future to. I didn’t think twice about moving on, I just wanted to stay here and I’m looking forward to the next four years.”

With many years of playing footy still ahead of him, Hull FC coach Peter Gentle is also excited that the club managed to retain another exciting talent.

“There is no doubting Tom’s obvious talent and he has done tremendously to get to this point, mainly through his work ethic and application, which is second to none,” said Gentle.

“He has a lot to learn and understand if he is to maximise his potential but we believe he can do that given time and that’s why we have offered him a long-term deal.

“He is powerful, very fast and very strong, whilst he’s also very good under the high ball too.

“Tom is just one of a handful of very exciting young players that we have at the club, particularly in our outside backs alongside the likes of Joe Arundel (21) and Ben Crooks (19).

“We have them all on long-term contracts and with continued hard work and development they have the opportunity to become a foundation of our side for years to come.”
