Steve Noyce

The figures and people behind a club can, at times, be as important as the players who play the games, and the Cronulla Sharks have taken a big stride forward in ensuring their off-field roster is just as strong, confirming that former Sydney Roosters and Wests Tigers CEO Steve Noyce will join the club as General Manager of Football Operations, as well as Gy Wallace who has been promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer.

The two have experience galore in the world of rugby league and sports management, with the club’s Chairman Glenn Coleman thanking interim CEO Bruno Cullen for his involvement in securing the experience of the two new management additions, as well praising the two experienced campaigners for the work they have done in the past.

“The Sharks have recruited some outstanding players and leaders on the field in recent years and we are now working through a similar process in our management ranks.” Mr Coleman said.

“When you add measures taken to secure our financial future through the $400 million Woolooware Bay residential, retail and community development on Club-owned land, the foundation blocks of a strong club for years to come are steadily being put in place.

“Steve Noyce brings an enormous wealth of rugby league and sports management experience to the specialist role of General Manager, Football. He is also regarded as a man who applies the highest standards of respect and integrity to his dealings with players, staff and officials.

“Gy Wallace is a finance professional with more than 15 years business in commercial, financial and operational fields. Since joining the Club’s executive two years ago, Gy has demonstrated a level of expertise and commitment that warranted his new role.

“We are delighted with these appointments which are a further step in building the most professional senior management team in rugby league.

“While there is a lot of work to with regard to the ongoing ASADA matter, strength and resilience have been hallmarks of this Club over the years and we are confident of a bright future.”
