Fresh off a solid performance in his 100th game for the Canberra Raiders and the NRL in a win over the Sydney Roosters, Raiders centre Jarrod Croker has today agreed to a new deal with the club, signing on until the end of the 2015 NRL season.
In what has been a rollercoaster career for Croker, the young centre has bounced back well amid earlier criticism throughout his career that he should have been dropped.
Croker, a local junior from Goulburn, is already in 4th place on the club’s all-time point scoring list, behind club legends Clinton Schifcofske, Mal Meninga and David Furner.
The choice for Croker was a straightforward one – the Canberra Raiders are the only club he wants to play for.
“The Raiders are the club where I started in the juniors and have made my way up into first grade and I love pulling on the green jersey every week,†Croker said.
“To be able to sign a new deal is a great thing for me and I can concentrate on putting in for the team I love playing for each week.
“It’s been a great week but we know we have to back it up from last week and beat the Warriors tomorrow night.â€
Equally excited to have retained a local junior, is Raiders CEO Don Furner.
“We’re thrilled to have Jarrod re-sign with the club – he’s a local junior and a wonderful role model for us as a club,†Furner said.
“Jarrod is the perfect example of what young players coming through the grades should be working towards and he has the potential to finish his career as one of the greats of the club.â€
