Kodi Nikorima

There was talk that the club was not going to retain him but Brisbane Broncos fans can rest easy, with talented youngster Kodi Nikorima re-signing.

The new deal will see him remain at the club until at least the end of 2016 and since making his debut in Rd two of this season, he has not looked back.

For Nikorima, he just wants to improve and get better as a player at the Broncos and is pleased to have his future settled.

“I am thankful for the opportunity I have been given this year and was happy to re-sign,” he said.

“My number-one priority was to sign with the club – I have been with the Broncos since I was 12 years of age.

“I hadn’t really thought about going, so it I was very pleased to re-sign with the club.”

A part of the Brisbane Broncos U20’s side coming through the ranks, the Kiwi-born Nikorima has always had the talent and many are now getting the chance to see it in action.

Famous for securing young talent for the long-term, the Broncos CEO Paul White says the club are pleased to have retained Nikorima for the time being.

“This is great news for the Broncos club, Kodi and his family,” said White.

“Kodi has obviously been with us for a long time and as a club we wanted to keep him here.

“We are certain under the guidance of head coach Wayne Bennett he will continue to develop as an NRL player.

“It is a show of faith for him to commit to us for at least another year when there was obvious interest from outside.”
