Michael Gordon

There was previously talk that Michael Gordon would join the Parramatta Eels in a mid-season transfer but after that did not materialise, their pursuit of him was believed to have ceased.

No longer, as the club have just announced that Michael Gordon will indeed join the club, starting from the 2016 season on a 1-year deal.

Gordon, who can play both on the wing and at fullback has played a total of 165 games to date over the course of a decade, enjoying stints with both the Cronulla Sharks and the Penrith Panthers.

As a veteran player, his leadership will be crucial, particularly for an Eels side that are known to bring a lot of youngsters through their own ranks.

“Michael is an experienced player and a quality fullback who will bring talent and expertise to our back line, and he deserves the opportunity to be playing in an NRL side,” Head Coach Brad Arthur said.

“Not only is he talented on the field, but his leadership will be valuable for the emerging young players in our squad.”
