Josh Hall

Multiple former NRL athletes tried their hand at AFL and switched but it has rarely happened the other way, until now. The Penrith Panthers have signed Gold Coast Suns player Josh Hall on a 2-year deal.

Speculation was rife earlier this year that a potential move was on the cards to the Panthers, but the move was, at the time, hosed down.

Hall, 25, is a Townsville local and the game of rugby league is not foreign to him having played it in his younger days but the lure of high jump champion caught his heart.

Having spoken with Hall, Penrith Panthers Executive General Manager can see the desire and commitment within Hall and his passion to succeed.

“From the first time I met Josh I was impressed with his personality and enthusiasm,” Mr Gould said.

“He possesses great athletic ability and if desire counts for anything, he has a bright future ahead of him.

“Josh is well aware of the challenges he faces but a successful transition will no doubt inspire others to follow.

“It won’t be easy for Josh but we will do everything in our power to make his dream a reality.”

He will join the club in pre-season training in November.
