Adam Clydsdale

A talented, young player, Adam Clydsdale has been a casualty of the changing in coaching staff under new boss Nathan Brown, signing with the Canberra Raiders.

Clydsdale, who was a mainstay at the start of the year, gradually fell out of favour after injuries and the form of Tyler Randell and Danny Levi picked up.

With 40 matches in total at the NRL level so far after making his debut in 2013, Clydsdale will bring some healthy competition to the Raiders side and the club are pleased to have him.

“Our current attitude towards recruitment is bringing in good players and creating depth in important positions,” Canberra Raiders coach, Ricky Stuart said.

“Adam is a very talented young footballer and he’ll fit in with what we’re building here at the club.”

Walking into the side will not be easy, though, with Josh Hodgson and Kurt Baptiste both contracted and both coming off solid seasons in 2015.

“Josh and Kurt had very strong seasons for the club, with Josh in particular playing every game for us this year,” Stuart said.

“Having Adam join us gives us the ability to have three quality hookers at the club and it gives us healthy competition for places in the NRL team each week.”

The deal saw Clydsdale released from the final year of his contract at the Knights, with the club thanking him for his service to the club.

“We thank Adam for his service to the Club and wish him the very best in the future,” Newcastle Knights Director of Football Michael Hagan said.
