Brett Greinke

The NRL is all about opportunity and at times, players need to make decisions as do the teams they play for. The Brisbane Broncos and player Brett Greinke have opted to part ways effective immediately.

The decision will see Greinke play for another NRL side, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, with the club signing him until the end of the 2017 season.

Playing with the Norths Devils so far this season, Greinke was also a part of the QLD Residents side that played this past weekend.

Whilst the club are disappointed to see a local junior of theirs go, they wish Greinke all the best.

“Brett came up through our development program and captained our under-20s to a National Youth Competition grand final in 2014,” said Chief Executive, Paul White.

“He has also worked in our school-based mentoring program with Indigenous students.

“We are very sad to see him go but wish him all the best for his future and would certainly love to see him back at the club one day.”

Souths coach Michael Maguire is pleased to add Greinke to the squad.

“We’re always looking to recruit quality players and we have done that in bringing Brett to our Club,” Coach Maguire said.

“His recruitment bolsters our ranks in the forwards which is always a good thing.

“He’s young, hungry for success, and has displayed his willingness to work hard to achieve his goals, so we’re looking forward to having him join our squad and pushing for a spot in our top 17.”
