Manaia Cherrington

After the surprising news that Michael Ennis would retire at the end of the year, the Cronulla Sharks were actively scouting and looking for a replacement and they have found their man.

Manaia Cherrington will join the club for the 2017 season, signing a 1-year deal.

A Kiwi international at the Four Nations in 2015, the dummy half impact of Cherrington has been on display when performing for current club, the Wests Tigers.

Although game-time was limited for Cherrington at the Tigers, he is excited at the new challenge and what lies ahead.

“The boys here at the Sharks are going really well, it’s exciting times and I can’t wait to be a part of it,” Cherrington said.

A teammate of Sharks backline star Gerard Beale in the New Zealand Four Nations squad last year, Cherrington will be reacquainting himself with his Kiwi counterpart in 2017.

“I spoke to him (Gerard) and he is really excited for me and I’m looking forward to getting started in November,” he said.

As per usual with signings, Cherrington will join the club for pre-season training in November.
