Valentine Holmes

A crucial player for the Cronulla Sharks, there were rumours galore surrounding his future but Sharks fans can rest easy. Valentine Holmes has re-signed via a contract extension for a further two seasons.

Since making his debut at 18 in 2014, Holmes has gone on to be a regular at the club, holding down a spot over the last 18 months in particular.

Eager to get it done prior to the season starting, Holmes is looking forward to staying and to starting in the fullback role if given the chance.

“It’s very exciting and good I was able to get it done before the start of the season,” Holmes said.

“We’re trying to keep the same team that won the premiership together, it’s a great bunch of guys, there are some good young blokes coming through and I’m really happy with the way we are going.

“As for playing fullback, I can’t wait to play there.”

Coach Shane Flanagan praised the re-signing, knowing just how important Holmes is to the club.

“Val is a representative standard player and someone destined for a long career in the NRL,” Flanagan said.

“It’s great for the Club, our Members and fans and for our corporate partners to know that he will be here for many years to come.”
