Konrad Hurrell

Slowly finding his feet ahead of the 2017 season as he recovers from injury, Konrad Hurrell is not only excited to play for the Gold Coast Titans but excited to sign a contract extension.

The exciting centre and the Titans club agreed to a new deal that will see the former New Zealand Warrior remain on the Gold Coast until the end of the 2019 season.

Making his debut with the Warriors back in 2012, since joining the Titans, Hurrell has felt at ease within the team and is enjoying his footy.

“I’ve enjoyed every minute I’ve spent on the Gold Coast and since I’ve arrived, I’ve really started to enjoy my footy again,” Hurrell said.

“We’ve got a great bunch of guys and off the back of a finals appearance last year, I hope we can continue our rise as a club.”

In particular, the support by the club and its fans has been a key factor for the hulking centre.

“Everyone at the club has been so supportive since I joined and I just hope I can repay them over the coming years by playing some good football,” Hurrell added.

His efforts on the field do not go unnoticed either, as coach Neil Henry knows how crucial Hurrell is to their side.

“Konrad has really impressed me since arriving at the club,” Henry said.

“His attitude and work ethic has been excellent and he is a key member of our team moving forward.”

“Whilst he has had a chequered pre-season due to injury, it’s a credit to him that he’s now ready for round one.”

Fast becoming a fan favourite and even a cult hero, Titans fans are excited to see him remain.

“It’s great that we have been able to retain him and I am sure that our members and fans are very happy to see him commit to the Titans for a further two seasons,” added Henry.

Echoing the sentiments of Henry, club CEO Graham Annesley praised Hurrell for re-signing and his character.

“Konrad is one of the great characters in the game. Our members and fans love him and he definitely draws people through the gates,” Annesley said.

“He’s one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and he really lifts the morale of everyone around him.

“We couldn’t be happier to have Konrad with us for the next three NRL seasons.”
