Danny Levi

A team that is showing a lot of heart in 2017, the Newcastle Knights want to keep as many of the roster as possible and they have just re-signed another key piece, with Danny Levi signing on until the end of the 2020 season.

The new deal is effectively a contract extension, as the dynamic hooker was already under contract for the 2018 season.

With coach Nathan Brown placing a large emphasis on the young talent and getting the best out of them, he sees Levi as a player that they can build the side around.

“Our strategy is to retain our best young talent and build a team around them,” Brown said.

“In his third year of football, Danny shows continual improvement and a real desire to represent our footy Club.”

Playing his entire career with the Knights to date, Levi said it was important for him to continue his career at a club he has been involved with for so long.

“I have been here since the start of my career so it’s good to get another three years on top of that,” Levi explained.

“Since I moved to Newcastle I thought it was such a beautiful place.

“It is nice and chilled out, there are awesome people around so definitely somewhere I feel I see myself in the future.”

He also believes that the club is moving in the right direction and along with improving his own game further, is excited at what is ahead for the Knights.

“I like what’s going to happen here and I feel like we’re building something,” Levi explained.

“I definitely want to be a part of that and hopefully be one of the players to help that along.

“I have still got a lot to work on and a lot to improve on but at the moment I feel like my game is getting better.”
