Daniel and Jacob Saifiti

Becoming mainstays of the Newcastle Knights first-grade line-up on the back of consistent performers, the club has re-signed young, hulking forward duo, the Saifiti brothers – Jacob and Daniel – until the end of the 2020 season.

The twins made their debut in Rd 1 of the 2016 season and were already contracted for 2018, with their new deal a 2-year extension.

With the Knights placing a large emphasis on their junior talent and retention, the Saifiti’s are a crucial part of the Knights side moving forward.

“We are delighted to be able to secure Daniel and Jacob at the Club for another two years,” General Manager Football Darren Mooney said.

“They have both had an impressive year and I’m certain they will continue to improve and develop their games.

“Their dedication and leadership as young players is an asset to the team and they’ll be an integral part of the Club’s future.”

2017 in particular, was a very good year for Daniel, as he took out the club’s Player’s Player award and in his eyes, the Knights are the place to be.

“The Club has shown faith in us and hopefully we can repay that,” Daniel said.

“We have been here for two years and I can’t imagine being anywhere else.”

Equally pleased is his brother Jacob, who believes the club is putting together a good side on paper that he hopes can gel together.

“I’m excited to play with a lot of new signings next season who can bring that experience that we need,” Jacob said.

“We have a strong side on paper and hopefully we’ll have a good couple of years ahead of us.”
