Young players are essential for NRL teams and so the Brisbane Broncos have moved quickly to re-sign Tom Opacic and Gehamat Shibasaki.
The young centre duo have both re-signed until the end of the 2020 season.
Opacic, still only 23, has played in 19 NRL games including ten this season.
Shibasaki will make his NRL debut at centre this week in the local derby against the North Queensland Cowboys.
Broncos coach Wayne Bennett said why he made a decision to re-sign the soon-to-be debutant.
“He is from the under-20s and has come through our system,” said Bennett of Shibasaki.
“We rate him highly and have just re-signed him.
“He is a big, powerful thing and is very willing.”
