New Gold Coast Titans recruit Sam Stone

Opting for a move back home, Sam Stone and the Newcastle Knights agreed to an early release to allow the prop to play for the Gold Coast Titans.

Stone, who joins the club on an 18-month contract effective immediately, is no stranger to the Gold Coast.

The prop was born in the area, before moving to Newcastle where he ended up playing his junior footy.

Stone made his presence felt when, after a successful NYC stint with the Knights, he was given a chance to play first-grade in 2017.

He produced some good form that year, but was in and out of the side from 2018 onwards.

Ultimately, the Titans are pleased that a Gold Coast product has opted to return home.

“While having spent a lot of his life in Newcastle, Sam was born on the Gold Coast and is coming ‘home’ in pursuit of a greater opportunity,” Brennan said.

“We have rotated a number of players through that back row position, and to bolster our squad with a specialist in that spot will only add depth to our squad.

“Sam has played NRL and knows what it takes to play at that level. I look forward to him joining the squad and working with him.”
