New North Queensland Cowboys recruit Scott Drinkwater

After a barren injury run in their back-line, the North Queensland Cowboys have managed to add talented utility back Scott Drinkwater to alleviate some stress.

Drinkwater, who impressed early on for the Storm in trials prior to this season, was slated to take over the fullback role.

A pectoral injury set him back and with the form of others, he has found himself unable to crack the side once again.

So, a move beckoned. That move for Drinkwater has come in the form of the Cowboys.

Impressing since his return in the Queensland Cup, the Cowboys are raving about their new signing and what he can bring to the team.

“We were always looking to fill the last spot in our squad with somebody we thought could add significant value,” Cowboys Director of Football Parr said.

“Scott is a highly accomplished player and has the ability to play multiple positions, which led us to believe he would be an ideal signing for us at this stage of the year.”

Although the Storm were not planning to let Drinkwater go just yet, having already signed at the Cowboys for 2020, he can play first-grade straight away.

“It’s important to acknowledge Scott Drinkwater’s contribution to our club on and off the field as he starts the next chapter in his NRL career,” Storm General Manager – Football Frank Ponissi said.

“He heads to the Cowboys with our best wishes.

“While we were reluctant to release Scott, he had already signed with the Cowboys in 2020 and the opportunity was there for him to get game time in their first grade side straight away.”
