Wests Tigers back-rower Luke Garner

Bursting onto the scene in 2019, Luke Garner impressed many Wests Tigers fans and has been justly rewarded with a new deal.

The deal is a two-year contract extension, that sees him remain with the Tigers until the end of 2022.

A bit of a late bloomer at 24, he captained the Tigers feeder side in the NSW Cup before making his first-grade debut in 2018.

With 20 games total for the Tigers, 14 of which came in 2019, Garner is pleased to stay with the club.

“It’s very exciting for me to stay here,” Garner said.

“This is the club where I made my first-grade debut and where I’ve played for the last few years so I’m very excited to stay.”

“We’re building something very nice here and it’s very exciting to see the development in our team.

“I’m focused on working hard and pushing my teammates and seeing where we can go in the next few years.”

Earning his spot in the team and off-setting the loss of Ryan Matterson, Garner drew praise from head coach Michael Maguire.

“I’m really pleased to see Luke re-sign for a further two years,” Maguire said.

“He has worked extremely hard to get to where he is in this team and I have no doubt that his discipline and dedication to improving will only see him get better and better.”
